As the geographical top of Denmark, this is the point where the two seas, the Skagerak Sea and the Kattegat Sea meet. You can get there by taking the famous tractor ride with Sandormen, which takes you from Skagen city all the way to Grenen at the tip of the North Coast.

    Skagen Fyr

From the top of the tallest Lighthouse in Denmark you have a fantastic view of Skagen and the surrounding area. The grey lighthouse was built in 1858.  From ground level, the spiral staircase leads 46 m (160 ft) and 210 steps up to the external balcony.

    Rubjerg Knude

This big sandy cliff lies in dramatic surroundings just south of the town of Hirtshals. On the highest point of Rubjerg Knude lies The Lighthouse Rubjerg Fyr. This 23 m (75.5 ft) tall Lighthouse is destined to plunge into the water below in about 15-20 years, as the sea erodes the shoreline. The Lighthouse was built in the year 1900 and from here you have a fantastic view of the area.

    Skagen Museum

Some of Denmark’s most famous painters and artist lived in Skagen, and from the end of the 1870s and up to the turn of the century, Skagen was an international meeting place for young artists. The collection at Skagen’s Museum includes over 1800 paintings, sketches, graphic works, sculptures and ceramics. The most prominent Skagen artists are Anna and Michael Ancher and P.S. Krøyer. Skagen Sønderstrand

    Visit the Sandy Beaches

Skagen is surrounded by sandy beaches, and we highly recommend a visit to Skagen Sønderstrand, just a few minutes walk from Skagen city centre. It is a sandy family friendly beach, where the Skagen painters found the inspiration for many of their famous paintings.

The beach is lovely for families, and each year on Midsummer’s Eve there is a bonfire.

    Råbjerg Mile

This sandy dune is the biggest dessert in Northern Europe, and invites visitors to a day of fun, running up and down the sandy hills. The history of this massive, 40 meter high dune is interesting, as it lies in the middle of the flat country of Northern Jutland, grabbing everything in its path, as it moves about 15 meters to the east every year.

    Bolcheriet- Candy Factory

Do you have a sweet tooth for candy and caramel? Then the Candy Factory is the place for you. Den Tilsandede Kirke - The Buried Church

This church was once the largest church in the region of Vendsyssel, until the sand started drifting into the church. This drift started around the year 1600, and reached the church at the end of the 18th century. The congregation had to dig their way into the church when they wanted to attend services. The struggle against the sand continued until 1795 when the church was closed.
