Vision and Goals
Danhostel, also known as Danhostel Danmarks Vandrerhjem, offers good quality, budget accommodation which will meet your accommodation needs. Enjoy social time and activities together, stay close to popular attractions, exchange experiences and get a good night's sleep. Our modern hostels also offer a venue for meetings and courses at reasonable prices.
All hostels are members of the Danhostel Association which works tirelessly on the maintenance and development of the hostels. The proprietors are local authorities, independent institutions and private owners. The later has increased over the years.
Danhostel's board is responsible for the policies of hostel operations and comprises seven representatives - three hosts, three hostel owners, and one member of the Danish Tourism Industry. Originally, Danhostel was organised as a standard association, but as hostels become an even greater part of Danish tourism, the demand for a professional and commercial operation increased. Financing of the Danhostel Association comes entirely from membership fees as the organisation receives no public funding.
Turnover at the hostels is high and with the exception of hotel guests, there are no tourists with as high a daily consumption as hostel guests. Special areas of activities are conferences and courses, which typically take place during the winter months. An increasing number of hostels market Danhostels as locations for meetings and courses, and this has proved to be very successful, especially when combined with catering.
The impact that hostel membership can have on the Danhostel Association is dependent on the united approach of each hostel. Accordingly, the main task of the board is product development and marketing to ensure consistently high quality, without impinging on the individual character of the hostels. All Danhostels are therefore under constant development in accordance with guests’ expectations.
If you are looking for budget accommodation in Denmark, choose a Danhostel.
