Danhostels Awarded the Green Key Label

For the environmentally conscious hostel guest

The Green Key is an international environmental certification programme for businesses in the tourism industry, including hostels. To achieve certification, each Danhostel must meet a range of environmental criteria covering areas such as energy, water, waste, cleaning and food.

This means that the Green Key-certified Danhostels have been assessed against the criteria of the Green Key certification programme. See the certified Danhostels at the bottom of the page.

Example: Danhostel Skanderborg – Focusing on specific environmental initiatives

Danhostel Skanderborg has implemented a number of initiatives over the years to reduce resource consumption. These include using smaller plates to reduce food waste and optimising energy consumption through heat pumps and solar panels. Guests are also encouraged to sort their waste. In 2020 Danhostel Skanderborg removed plastic bags from the waste bins in its rooms, reducing the use of approximately 6,000 plastic bags per year at the time.
