    When can I check in and out at a Danhostel?
    Check-in is usually possible between 4 pm and 6 pm, while in Copenhagen you can check in from 2 pm. On departure, rooms must typically be vacated by 9 am, and the hostel by 10 am. Once you've received your key, you’ll have 24-hour access – simple and flexible, whether you're staying in Aarhus, Ribe or Roskilde.

     

    How do I cancel a stay at Danhostel?
    Cancellation policies vary by location. Typically, for stays of 1–2 nights, you can cancel up to 3 days before arrival, and for stays of 3+ nights, up to 7 days before – with the possibility of a refund minus a small fee. Check the specific Danhostel’s terms during booking or contact them directly.

     

    Can I bring my dog on holiday with you?
    Many Danhostels welcome pets, but only in specially designated rooms. To ensure allergy-friendly accommodation for all guests, please contact the individual hostel before booking to check if dog-friendly rooms are available. Read more here.

     

    Are there wheelchair-accessible Danhostels?

    How can I combine holiday with sports and training?
    Danhostel Sport offers stays with access to sports facilities, healthy meals, and comfortable sleeping arrangements. Ideal for various sports clubs such as football, handball, cycling teams, swimmers, and many more. We collaborate with local sport centres across the country.

     

    When are the reception and phones open?

    Opening hours vary, but as a general guideline:

    • High season (July 1 – September 15): 8:00–12:00 & 16:00–20:00
    • Outside high season: 8:00–10:00 & 16:00–18:00

    Please note that some Danhostels may be completely closed during certain periods – check the specific hostel for updated hours.

     

    When can I check in and out?

    • Check-in: from 16:00
    •  Check-out: no later than 10:00

    Want early check-in or late check-out? Contact the host directly – it’s often possible.
     

    Can I come and go as I please?
    Yes! Once you’ve checked in and received your key or code, you have 24-hour access to your room – even outside reception hours.

     

    How do I order breakfast?
    Breakfast usually needs to be ordered no later than the day before. It’s available at a reasonable price – ask the individual Danhostel for details.

     

    Does Danhostel also serve lunch and dinner?
    Some Danhostels offer lunch and dinner. Contact your chosen Danhostel to inquire about options.

     

    Can I cook my own meals?
    All Danhostels have a guest kitchen for solo travellers and families. The kitchen usually includes:

    • Oven
    • Fridge
    • Coffee machine
    • Various kitchen utensils

    Note: Some places charge a fee for crockery rental, and the guest kitchen is not available for groups.
     

    Group stays

    How do I book accommodation for a group?
    If you're travelling as a group of 10 or more, you can get a tailored stay with full board, shared rooms, and great facilities. Send enquiries directly to your preferred Danhostels here.

     

    • When is a booking considered a group at Danhostel?
      If you are 10 or more people booking and paying together, you are considered a group. Send an enquiry to up to three Danhostels at once via danhostel.dk/grupper.

       

    Can groups use the guest kitchen?
    No, the guest kitchen is for solo travellers and families only. Groups can get offers including catering.Read more about group options at danhostel.dk/grupper.

    What meeting facilities does Danhostel offer?

    Can we stay overnight in connection with a meeting?

    Do you offer meeting rooms and conference packages?
    Many Danhostels offer modern meeting rooms and flexible packages – perfect for small day meetings or larger conferences with accommodation.     What facilities are available for sports groups?

    Can I rent a shelter at a Danhostel?
    Yes – several hostels offer shelter stays in scenic locations with access to toilets and breakfast at your doorstep.

    Hostelling International (HI) Card

    What is a Hostelling International (HI) Card?
    A Hostelling International (HI) Card gives you a 10% discount on your accommodation when you book via danhostel.dk/en, hihostels.com, or directly at the reception of any Danhostel during opening hours.

    Where is the HI Card discount valid?
    The 10% discount is only valid when you book through:

    Bookings made through other websites are not eligible for the discount.

    Can I use the HI Card for more than just accommodation discounts?
    Yes. With a valid HI Card, you also get access to discounts on events and attractions throughout Denmark.

    Do I need a HI Card to stay at a Danhostel?
    No, a HI Card is not required to stay at a Danhostel. However, it provides attractive benefits such as discounts on accommodation and local experiences.

    Who can use a HI Card?
    The HI Card is valid for:

    • Solo travellers
    • Couples
    • Families with children
    • Groups

    How much does a Hostelling International Card cost?
    The HI Card costs DKK 160 and is valid for 12 months from the date of issue.

    Where can I buy a HI Card?
    You can purchase a HI Card:

    • At the reception of any Danhostel (physical card)
    • Via hihostel.com 

    How do I get the discount when I book online?
    Even though the discount is not automatically deducted during online booking, you will receive a 10% refund when you check in at your chosen Danhostel and present a valid HI Card.
    Please note: The discount is only granted upon arrival and cannot be applied retroactively.

    Do children need a HI Card?
    In Denmark, children under 18 staying with their parents do not need their own HI Card.
    However, in some countries – including Sweden, England, and Germany – all guests may be required to have a valid HI Card.

    What are the rules for group bookings and HI discounts?
    Discounts are only valid if all adults in the room or group have a valid HI Card.

    Can I use my HI Card internationally?
    Yes. The HI Card is accepted at all Hostelling International hostels worldwide.

    What kinds of discount agreements does Danhostel offer?
    Danhostel has agreements with a wide range of attractions, cultural sites, and museums throughout Denmark.

    How does Danhostel work with accessibility?
    At Danhostel, we aim to create welcoming conditions for all guests – including those with special needs. Many of our hosts have great experience welcoming guests using wheelchairs or with other disabilities, and offer solutions like wide doorways, ramps, lifts, and accessible rooms.

    Facilities vary by location. Some offer individual accessible rooms, while others have fully adapted buildings with wide doors, sliding bathroom doors, ramps, or access to exercise facilities. At danhostel.dk, you’ll find an overview of each location’s offerings.

     

    How can I ensure the stay suits my needs?
    We always recommend contacting the Danhostel directly to confirm which rooms and facilities fit your needs. Some places only have a limited number of wheelchair-accessible rooms, and there may be limitations for electric wheelchairs.
