Ringkøbing With Many Activities
Ringkøbing, with its red brick buildings and paved streets, is one of the loveliest towns in Denmark. It is one of the oldest and most well-preserved market towns and is located at Ringkøbing Fjord. Stroll through the alleys and streets to view the well-kept buildings and beautiful old houses, which have been carefully restored. Here you can expect charm, varied landscapes, a lively harbour, and overall, just a fantastic atmosphere. The amazing scenery around the sea and Ringkøbing Fjord will take your breath away, whether you take a dip in the sea, hike in the dunes or just breathe in the fresh air. In 2007, Ringkøbing was named Europe’s happiest city by Cambridge Institute, and rightly so. This charming town offers a wide range of speciality shops, restaurants, and jazz music on the town square which is always buzzing with activity.
Airplanes and Sculptures
Ringkøbing offers several historical experiences including Ringkøbing Museum, where the exhibition "Airmen in the Night (Flyvere i Natten), features the 19 Allied aircraft which crashed during World War II. You can also see the large, beautiful pictures of Ringkøbing as it was in the 18th century. If you like statues and sculptures, then slipped around the corner and see the well-known artworks, which include water sculpture Atlantis at the harbour, Vestjyden on the pedestrian street, and The Wave at the fjord. Ringkøbing’s Trade Association arranges children’s markets, Elvis shows and other activities in the air, water and on land.
Søndervig - Gate to the North Sea
When you stay at Danhostel Ringkøbing, you are close to the lovely town of Søndervig, a modern seaside resort with shops, cafes, bicycle rental, mini golf, bowling and more. Take a dip at the beach and visit the bunkers spread out along the coast. In 2019, the Sand Sculpture Festival held each year will feature “Robots” as its theme. Each sculpture is created in 10 days and will be exhibited until October. There is also a 200-metre-long and 7-metre-high sand wall beautifully decorated with various figures based on the theme.
Ringkøbing Fjord is the largest ford in West Jutland and is believed to be the most beautiful. Anglers and recreational fishermen will have many opportunities for a catch. Visit salt marshes such as Tipperne and Værnengene in the southern part of Ringkøbing Fjord. While there, take a trip to Bork Viking Harbour.
Skjern River (Å) – A Fisherman’s Dream
Skjern River is a river with the largest volume of water in Denmark and the only river with a delta, which was restored by North Europe’s largest restoration project. This is the perfect spot for birdwatchers and nature lovers. It is, however, a mecca for anglers as Skjern River is the home of Denmark’s only wild salmon strain, with some weighing up to 20 kg!
Come and experience the lovely atmosphere when you book accommodation at Danhostel Ringkøbing. Enjoy a host of activities and entertainment in Ringkøbing and the surrounding areas on land, water, and in the air.
