Danhostel Flensborg Fjord
Danhostel Flensborg Fjord (Denmark), located in a former school, lies in the village of Rinkenæs, just 2 km from Flensborg Fjord. We are a 10-minute drive from the Danish/German border and 4 km from the castle town of Gråsten.
We offer 54 fully refurbished rooms - 29 en-suite rooms, 6 rooms, each with a bathroom in the hallway, and 19 other rooms with 9 shared bathrooms. We accommodate single travellers, families, large groups, school camps and more. We also have rooms for parties and events. We are just 150 m from Benniksgaard Golf Course, and Benniksgaard Hotel which has a café, restaurant and a specialty shop with local produce. We are centrally located in South Jutland and can be used as a base for trips in both Denmark and Germany. The area around our hostel offers beautiful surroundings and attractions, so we will provide you with information on the best cycle routes. Gendarmstien (trail), at Flensborg Fjord, is the perfect route for cycling and hiking. Whether you cycle, take the bus, or drive, a must-see area is the route along the fjord called Fjordvejen. There are two ice cream shops along the way which sell hot dogs and more. Visit Gråsten Palace, the summer residence of Denmark’s Royal Family. The English garden, and the chapel which houses about 80 paintings are open to the public when the Royal Family is away. Take a trip to Dybbøl and learn about the Mill and the War of 1864. Sønderborg Castle in Sønderborg, a beautiful town by the fjord is worth a visit. For more excitement, check out the border shops in Kruså and those just across the border in Flensburg, Germany.
