    Danhostel Esbjerg

Danhostel Esbjerg, housed in a historic building dating back to 1916, is close to many sports facilities and within walking distance of the city centre, forest and beach. Manager, Sally Due Sperling, provide an ideal base for accommodation in Denmark’s fifth-largest city.

Danhostel Esbjerg has 53 rooms - 20 of which have private bathrooms, plenty of cosy living spaces, a well-equipped guest kitchen and a basement with table tennis and table football. There are parking facilities and a locked bicycle shed.

The hostel is the proud recipient of the Green Key Award, which acknowledges Danhostel Esbjerg’s respect for the environment.

Relax at Danhostel Esbjerg after a day at the North Sea.  The hostel is beautifully designed and provides activities for all guests. Play games in the basement and relax in the living room in front of the cosy fireplace during the cold weather.  When you stay at Danhostel Esbjerg, the staff go to great lengths to combine ambience with modern comforts.

Esbjerg, once the largest fishing port in Denmark, offers many possibilities for an active holiday, including shopping and spectacular natural wonders. Visit the Concert Hall (Esbjerg Musikhuset) and Esbjerg Art Museum. Plan your trip and include a shopping day in Esbjerg which has more than 200 speciality shops, restaurants and department stores. Don’t forget to enjoy a concert at Tobakken.

Pay a visit to Wadden Sea National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which is within walking distance of the hostel. Go on a seal safari, see the tidal flats and unique animal life, and experience the beautiful sunset. Ribe, the oldest town in Denmark and the island of Fanø, with its silver-sand beaches, dunes and historic small towns are worth a visit. Take a trip to Legoland and Givskud Zoo.

The sculpture, Man Meets the Sea, is close to Danhostel Esbjerg. It was a gift to Esbjerg from Svend Hansen Viig to mark the city’s 100th anniversary as an independent municipality. The sculpture emphasises in an impressive fashion man's encounter with the harsh nature.

Take a trip to see the sharks and seals at the Fisheries and Maritime Museum located just a few km west of Danhostel Esbjerg. The mood is exhilarating in the city by the sea. You might be inspired to take a swim yourself after you leave the Fisheries Museum.  Swim Stadium Denmark and the city’s other sports facilities are within 100 m of the hostel.

Danhostel Esbjerg offers budget accommodation near the North Sea and is a perfect base for an active or relaxing holiday.
