Østerbro
While the city centre is busy with shopping and nightlife, Østerbro offers a quieter, more local side of Copenhagen. This elegant district is known for its green parks, cosy cafés and beautiful old streets. A place where Copenhageners live, run and relax.
Østerbro is one of the city’s most family-friendly areas, but it also appeals to travellers who enjoy calm surroundings and a local atmosphere. Explore historic neighbourhoods like Nyboder, with its yellow houses built for sailors in the 1600s, or Brumleby, one of Denmark’s first social housing projects. Walking through these small, colourful streets feels like stepping back in time.
You will also find Fælledparken, Copenhagen’s largest park, perfect for a picnic, a jog or a game of football. The area is close to the water too. From here, you can easily reach The Little Mermaid, Kastellet Fortress and the harbour promenade by bike or on foot.
